* A very special excursion, designed with a lot of thought and care. Your exact pick-up time will be advised upon confirmation.
The tour includes a series of stops on the Troodos mountains, offering a combination of tradition, and breath-taking panoramic views. *
- On our first stop, experience traditional cheese-making with a tour of a family owned farm, starting with a warm welcome by the owner herself and a look at the lush farmland and animals that provide the milk. From milking the animals, to the cheese making process, including curdling, heating and molding, you will have the chance to observe every step of the process. Then you will sample fresh halloumi - soft, salty, and delicate, creamy anari along with local bread and olives. This tour combines delicious flavors, local culture, and hands-on learning for an unforgettable culinary adventure.
- Next, we will head to Agros, located in a beautiful setting up on the Troodos Mountains, and part of the Pitsilia region, where we will visit a family-owned business that has been preparing traditional smoked and wine meat products in the traditional way since 1978. Smoked meats are a significant part of traditional Cypriot cuisine and you will be offered to try some of them, including smoked bacon, smoked ham, smoked sausages as well as the actual wine used to cure them, also produced in house.
- Within the same village, we will also take you to a family owned rose factory, and allow you to indulge in the magic of roses and their gifts. There, you will have the chance to learn about the process of the product making, as well as having the opportunity to try these special products.
- Our excursion continues outdoors in Platres, where we will have a short trail walk in nature, enjoying the scenery at Millomeris waterfall, which is one of the biggest waterfalls in Cyprus.
- While in Platres, we will then head towards the heart of the village, to a traditional tavern where you will have a selection of local dishes - served in the traditional Cypriot meze style - with options included for vegeterians!
- After the lovely walk around Platres, we will then head to the picturesque village of Omodos where we will visit Timios Stavros Monastery, known as Monastery of the Holy Cross. Timios Stavros is a stone monastery, considered as one of the oldest and most historic monasteries of the island.
- Our last stop will be just outside the village, where we will visit a locally famous winery that has been awarded numerous times since 2007, with traditional methods that have been used for generations. The winery uses 8 different kinds of grapes for its wine collection and our visitors will have the chance to try all the creations within a thorough wine tasting session.
